Facade Renovation Sperwerhorst and Surroundings, Amersfoort – Beautifully Made to Stay Beautiful

In 2016, housing corporation De Alliantie, in collaboration with ERA Contour, carried out an extensive facade renovation on eight end walls in the Sperwerhorst neighborhood and surroundings in Amersfoort. This intervention was part of a broader approach to improve the living quality, energy performance, and appearance of the existing 1970s homes.

A Base with Steni Nature, Elegance through Steni Colour

A central element in the renewed facade design is the application of approximately 1,000 m² of Steni Nature SN305 facade panels. These low-maintenance panels with a natural stone surface form the robust and durable base material for the renovated facades. Thanks to their natural appearance and texture variation, they add visual depth to the facade while being resistant to weather conditions with minimal maintenance required.

As a visual accent, a horizontal white band of Steni Colour has been added at the floor levels. This contrasting band subtly and elegantly breaks up the facade surface, enhances the building’s horizontal articulation, and contributes to a contemporary, well-maintained appearance. The white Steni Colour panels create a clear linear pattern against the more earthy character of the Steni Nature panels, providing a fresh, modern signature within the streetscape.

Sustainability in Practice!

Although this project was completed nearly ten years ago, it is still in excellent condition. The facades show hardly any aging or soiling, despite being located in a richly vegetated, green environment. This not only highlights the quality of the workmanship but also the durability of the chosen materials.

The combination of technical robustness and architectural refinement makes this project a lasting asset to the neighborhood. With this facade approach, the end walls of Sperwerhorst and surroundings have been transformed into strong landmarks where design, sustainability, and livability seamlessly come together.
