Crossroads Amsterdam, a Statement in Steni Nature

For the leading new construction project Crossroads Amsterdam, we were proud to contribute to a facade that is as innovative as it is expressive. The design by MVSA Architects is characterized by a powerful formal language and refined use of materials – a vision that perfectly aligns with the aesthetics and quality of Steni Nature facade panels.

These durable and low-maintenance panels, featuring a natural stone granulate finish, offer a natural appearance with a brutalist character. This was essential for Crossroads: the building forms a striking intersection in the city where various functions and traffic flows converge. The facade contributes to the building’s identity as a connecting and contemporary hub.

Architectural Ambitions and Technical Solutions

With this project, we once again demonstrate how architectural ambitions and technical solutions come together in a facade that is not only functional but also visually striking. For architects, Steni Nature offers a palette of design freedom without compromising on sustainability, detailing, or circularity.

Technique

An essential part of the facade design was the ability to work with fixed L- and U-shaped elements. These elements contribute to the building’s strong massing and create a refined linear pattern in the facade appearance. At the same time, the facade installation could be carried out according to the ventilated facade principle – a lightweight, fast, and efficient construction method that combines comfort, sustainability, and long service life with architectural expression.

Steni Nature facade panels are mostly installed using screws, which offers flexibility and simplicity in execution. The great advantage of this method lies in the design of the decoration itself: thanks to the natural texture and the use of colored screw heads, the fastenings visually disappear into the surface. As a result, the facade appears visually seamless, while the construction remains fully demountable. This makes the facade not only aesthetically attractive but also future-proof and circular: the panels can be easily removed and reused without loss of quality.

The delivery and processing of the material was a display of craftsmanship and collaboration. Our partner Vink Kunststoffen from Didam handled the logistics of the material supply, while the precise processing of the panels was carried out by Maas Reusel. The installation was carried out by ZND Nedicom, commissioned by contractor Boele & van Eesteren.
