What is beautifully made should remain beautiful
In 2019, Slokker Bouwgroep completed the new construction of the Wagenberg and Geertruiden Street apartment complexes, designed by A3 Architects. The client was Woonstad Rotterdam.
The project presented a particular challenge: the frames around the windows and entrances were originally intended to be made of concrete to create a robust, solid appearance. However, concrete proved too heavy for the structure, prompting the search for an alternative that was both visually impressive and structurally lightweight.
The solution was found in Steni Nature SN111 Fine façade panels, applied in U-elements. Using these prefabricated elements allowed the desired solid effect to be maintained while significantly reducing the load on the construction. The result is a façade that looks strong yet is technically efficient and durable.
The concept behind this choice aligns with the philosophy: “What is beautifully made should remain beautiful.” Thanks to the high-quality finish of the Steni Nature panels, the complex retains its aesthetic appeal for the long term, without compromising on weight or structural safety.
A new construction project demonstrating that smart material choices and aesthetics can go hand in hand, enhancing and preserving the character of the building.
